Creative Responses from Families

Storytelling and Making Gallery

Storytelling and making were the foundations of the workshop sessions with families. Storytelling brought the historic environment alive in a playful and imaginative way: Repopulating historic spaces with the characters and atmospheres of the past. Related craft activities gave families the chance to explore ideas further and have a hands on connection with some of the concepts raised though storytelling.

Puppetry Gallery

Puppetry was used as a technique with families to explore both the built and natural environment. Puppetry extended shared storytelling as well as incorporating craft and performance into the project. It offered a multidisciplinary approach which promoted literacy, social interaction and reflection. The puppets and the journeys they took within the properties formed a consultation that fed into understanding family visitor experiences.
