“Just walking from the property to the school gets you out of the world of the property. We saw where people lived, and we met on their territory. We need to know where our local visitors come from, go there, and come back to the property with them.” Learning Officer at Sutton House
Marketing to local families is not an exact science, however the London Voices project has had lots of success in raising the profile of the properties in their communities.
Key to this has been targeted outreach events and people to people marketing. As well as doing creative sessions at our partner schools we have also attended the following events:
- School Assemblies (see planning document)
- Parent Teacher Evenings: handing out fliers
- School BBQs, Fetes, Christmas Fairs: a small craft stall with leaflets for upcoming events
- Fliering before and after school - catching parents as they are dropping off or picking up their children.
- Fresher's Fairs at local colleges: a small stall with leaflets.
- Stalls at the local library.
At all these events - a friendly smile and personal approach have been a very effective way of encouraging local people to visit our events.
